Virginia State Student Narrowly Escapes Home Fire
Virginia State student Jarius Reed and his mother are thankful to be alive after a Christmas Eve fire destroyed their Newport News home.
“I was asleep and just woke up suddenly. I didn’t have time to get anything,” Reed, 21, said.
He lived in the apartment along with his mother, Sarah Reed, 42, and her boyfriend.

Freshman Guard Kedric Taylor Fires Paine
Kedric Taylor didn’t know the deal until Paine coach Jimmy Link told him afterward in the locker room.
The freshman guard messed around and posted a triple double in the Lions’ 82-67 win Thursday night over Miles at Richmond Academy.
